Academic Programs

Education in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology is offered at the undergraduate levels with a masters program only in Speech Language Pathology. At the undergraduate level, pre-professional education is provided as a part of a broad, liberal education leading to a B.A. or B.S. degree in Communication with an emphasis in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Two types of graduate degrees are conferred at the professional level, namely the M.S. and the M.A. degrees with emphasis in Speech-Language Pathology.

The department has suspended its Masters degree emphasis in Audiology due to the fact that the American Speech-Language Hearing Association is changing the entry level of the profession of Audiology from a masters degree to a doctorate. The department has been unable to secure funding to make this transition. We continue to welcome applications to the Speech-Language Pathology program and we will continue to offer an undergraduate program in Speech & Hearing Sciences that includes courses in Audiology.
