* If possible, please send all parts of your application in one envelope. The GRE scores will come directly from the testing service. You will be notified
if we are missing anything.
When the necessary data for all the applicants arrives in the department, the faculty will make one of three recommendation: 1) admit conditionally and provisionally; 2) place on an alternate waiting list for admission; and 3) denial of Admission. You will be notified of the recommendation as soon as possible after graduate selection is made. Upon review by the faculty and acceptance into the program, the Admission Office will send you a letter stating that you have or have not met the provisional requirements for admittance (i.e., GPA or B.A. /B.S. degree verification).
When you apply, please specify on the form provided whether you wish to be considered for the Master’s degree program or the certification only non-degreeprogram. To be eligible for either program, you must have completed the minimum Speech and Hearing Sciences undergraduate requirements. To be eligible for the non-degree certificate program, you must hold a Master’s degree in a related area (i.e., linguistics, special education, education). Both programs lead to state licensure and national, professional certification. Note that the PSU program for Oregon education continuing licensure (replaces the standard license) in the Communication Disorders currently requires a Master’s degree.
All students are admitted conditionally. Upon completion of 12 credit hours of graduate work in Speech-Language Pathology, the candidate is reviewed by the faculty. If there are no challenges, the student is transferred to “Regular Degree” status. Challenged candidates may be continued on “Conditional Status” with a review after one term or be dropped from the Program. Generally speaking, most candidates attain “Regular” status.
